Kerrlaboration iTunes Podcast

Starting this week, Charlotte and I are going to create a weekly podcast discussing issues around the use of technology in the classroom.  This podcast will provide a unique perspective about technology in the classroom from the point of view of a student (my daughter) and a teacher (me).

Evernote for Portfolio collection, assessment and presentation.

I have been musing about this idea for a while now. I think Evernote is a powerful tool for creating an ePortfolio and then assessing and resenting at student led conferences. It would also allow teachers to share with parents and students. Here is a link to a teacher that is exploring this now.


Just presented a workshops on iPods in the Classroom for the KPRETFO Occassional Teachers. There was a fair bit of interest for the iPod.

Overdrive and your Public Library

Overdrive is a great service available from almost all public libraries.  You can download audiobooks with you library card from anywhere.  There is software available for smart phones and Windows and Mac.  If you like audiobooks check out the service.

Gaming for Learning

I came across an article today regarding a new Institute of Gaming at New York University.  Their Graduate program looks intriguing.  They held a symposium called Gaming for Learning earlier this week about the benefits to cognitive processes of gaming.
