I haven't posted in a while - no reason just taking a break. I have been doing a lot of reading lately and a lot of listening. I came across this really interesting idea of combining games and the exploration of news and global issues. It is called NewsGames and a CBC Spark podcast interview with Ian Bogost from Georgia Tech talked about the emergence of this new type of journalism where the gamer interacts with the news story to understand the issues from different perspectives. He has developed several games that I think have great potential for teaching current events and critical literacy skills in school. Persuasive Games has many different topical games that users can connect to for free.
